Hi. Could someone please tell me if there is any difference in how to use tratar, intentar and procurar?

I've looked for about definitions for these 3 verbs because personally I think that here in Spain we use them as synonyms, here you have the definitions:

Tratar:
15. intr. Procurar el logro de algún fin. Yo trato DE vivir bien.

Intentar:
1. tr. Tener ánimo de hacer algo.

2. tr. Preparar, iniciar la ejecución de algo.

3. tr. Procurar o pretender.

Procurar:
1. tr. Hacer diligencias o esfuerzos para que suceda lo que se expresa.

When you have some doubs about Spanish you can go to this web-page:
http://www.rae.es/rae.html

I don't know if you've ever heard about it, but it's the best dictionary of Spanish, it's made by professors of Spanish and professionals of Spanish language. There's also a section where you can ask your doubts and they reply you.
I recommend it to you!

Cheers!!

Hi Winter :)

For example:

"Intentaré escribirte cuando regrese de Caracas."
"Trataré de escribirte cuando regrese de Caracas."
"Procuraré escribirte cuando regrese de Caracas."

In the context of "making an effort to do something." Honestly, I use the three of them interchangeably.

I rarely use "procurar" although I've heard it many times on TV stations from countries like Uruguay.

Procurar (at least in my country) means like try a little bit harder.

Take care.... Bye
