Panda joke

Hi i have a doubt about english. I just translated the following spanish joke into english

Sally: ¡Estoy tan emocionada! Encontré un panda!--Lynn: ¿Por qué no lo llevas al zoológico?--Sally: Ayer lo llevé al zoológico, ¡Hoy iremos a nadar!-

Sally: I am so excited! I found a Panda! Lynn: Why don't you take it to the zoo? SAlly: Yesterday I brought it to the Zoo, today we will go swimming!

Is my translation ok? i have a doubt saying ' I brought it to the Zoo ' i think it must be ' i took it to the Zoo'....but i dont know...what do you think..i hope you give some feedbacks. Thanks
